The color customization in Big Walk goes deeper than the standard palette you start with. Tucked inside the game's secret tunnel network is a hidden paint area holding three metallic colors, and reaching it unlocks the Big Makeover achievement. The path there is anything but obvious, threading through multiple tunnel branches across different tower zones. Here's exactly how to get there and what to do once you arrive.
What do you need before heading to the secret paint area?
Before you can reach the Get Shiny paintbrush, the tunnel system itself needs to be unlocked. Access to the tunnels requires the key earned by completing the yellow tower. Without that key, the tunnel entrance stays sealed, so finish the yellow tower first if you haven't already.
You'll also want at least one other player with you. The metallic paint works the same way as the standard paint in Big Walk: you need a second player to apply the color to your character. Going in solo means you can find the palette but can't actually use it to unlock the achievement.
How to reach the Get Shiny paintbrush
The route runs through several tunnel sections across different color zones. Follow these steps in order:
- Head to the blue tower and enter the tunnel system nearby (the entrance will also be blue).
- Pick up the torch on the floor just inside the tunnel.
- Follow the tunnel until you reach a junction with multiple directions.
- Look at the floor marker pointing toward the green tower and take that tunnel.
- When you reach a floor marker pointing away from the blue tower, take the corridor on the right and drop down to the lower level.
- On the lower level, find the marker pointing toward the green tower again, then locate the tunnel to the right of it and enter.
- When the tunnel transitions into the green section, take the red tunnel on the left.
- Follow that red tunnel all the way across the green bridge.
- After crossing the bridge, you'll enter a red structure inside a purple area.
- Drop down as far as possible on the right side, then move into the purple area ahead.
- Follow the path downward and you'll find the color palette and paintbrush with three metallic color options.

Big Walk Guide: How to Get Shiny
How does the shiny paintbrush work?
The Shiny Paintbrush functions identically to the standard paintbrush found earlier in the game. The difference is purely cosmetic: three new metallic color options are available here that don't appear anywhere else on the standard palette.
All three metallic colors sit on the same palette in the secret area. To actually apply one, your co-op partner needs to paint at least one part of your body with a metallic shade. The moment that happens, Big Makeover unlocks.
Is the Big Makeover achievement worth the effort?
If you're chasing 100% completion, yes. The metallic colors themselves are purely cosmetic, so there's no gameplay advantage waiting at the end of the tunnel. The value is in the achievement tick and the satisfaction of finding one of the game's better-hidden secrets.
The tunnel navigation is the real challenge here. Players who have already spent time in the tunnel system for other objectives (like tracking down the Belt location and the Big Help achievement) will find the route to the paint area less disorienting, since the junction logic follows the same floor-marker system used throughout. First-timers should expect at least one wrong turn before the path clicks.
For everything else you need across the game, the full Big Walk guide collection covers the map, the towers, co-op setup, and every other achievement in one place.
