AC Black Flag Resynced New Game Plus Mode Confirmed

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is getting a New Game Plus mode. Game director Richard Knight confirmed it publicly during a livestream with YouTube channel JorRaptor, stating plainly: “We are working on that right now.”

What the director actually said

Knight's comments are about as direct as post-launch feature confirmations get. Asked about New Game Plus, he confirmed the team is actively building it, pointing to Assassin's Creed Shadows as a reference point. "Shadows has already built a version, so it's sort of a low-risk feature for us," he explained, adding that the groundwork from that implementation makes it a more manageable lift for the Black Flag Resynced team.

He also floated the idea of adding exclusive rewards tied to the mode, though he was careful not to commit to anything. "If it's up to me, yes," Knight said, noting that production discussions are still ongoing around scope and timeline.

Here's the thing: no release window was given. Knight was explicit on that point. "I really can't promise anything, but it's top of the list of things," he said. So it's confirmed and in progress, but players shouldn't expect a date announcement any time soon.

Why this lands differently than a standard feature request

The original Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag never had a New Game Plus mode, so this isn't a case of restoring something players already had. For Resynced, it would be a genuine addition, and Knight's framing of it as "such a natural thing" suggests the team sees it as a gap worth closing rather than an optional extra.

Shadows launched and received its New Game Plus update relatively quickly after release. If the Resynced team is building on that same infrastructure, the turnaround could be faster than a ground-up implementation would allow. That said, Knight was deliberate about managing expectations, repeating that he couldn't promise a specific date even while confirming the work is happening.

tip
The original Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag did not include a New Game Plus mode, making this a first for the Black Flag experience rather than a returning feature.

What New Game Plus could mean for players

For an action game like Black Flag Resynced, New Game Plus tends to hit differently than in RPGs. The appeal here is carrying Edward's full naval arsenal and combat upgrades into a fresh run, replaying early sequences with late-game power. Whether Ubisoft adds any exclusive cosmetics or rewards on top of that is still undecided, but Knight's personal preference leans toward yes.

The bigger picture for post-launch content

Knight acknowledged that New Game Plus is just one item on a longer list of post-launch plans, with some features being harder to deliver than others. New Game Plus sits near the top of that list specifically because of the Shadows precedent, which gives the team a working template to build from.

What else is in the pipeline remains unconfirmed. Knight didn't detail any other specific features, keeping the focus on New Game Plus as the one thing he could speak to openly. For players already deep into the game, the full Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced guides collection covers everything currently available, from questlines to collectibles, while the team works on what comes next.
