Hasbro's Zelda Figure Tease Points to Breath of the Wild Link

Hasbro Zelda Action Figures Tease Points to Breath of the Wild

Picture this: a miniature Master Sword and Hylian Shield propped against a rock, photographed with the kind of dramatic lighting usually reserved for movie props. That is the tease Hasbro Pulse dropped on Instagram, and it tells us a lot more than Hasbro probably intended.

The Legend of Zelda fans have been watching the collectibles space closely ever since Hasbro secured the Nintendo license to produce Zelda toys and action figures starting in 2027. Now, with a single cryptic post captioned "The hero's journey begins tomorrow," the first real clues about what that initial wave looks like are out in the open.

What the shield design actually tells us

Here's the thing: not all Hylian Shields are created equal. The design shown in Hasbro's tease is the modern version, first introduced in Skyward Sword and carried forward through both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. It is a very different look from the shield seen in Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess, and that distinction matters.

The key here is that Hasbro would not accidentally use the wrong shield design. These props are built to match specific character designs, which means whoever they are building is a version of Link that canonically carries this particular shield. That narrows the field considerably.

Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Link share this aesthetic, and both games moved well over 20 million copies each on Nintendo Switch. From a pure business standpoint, leading with either of those versions of the character makes complete sense. They are the most recognizable versions of Link to the broadest audience right now.

tip
Hasbro Pulse is the same division behind the Star Wars Black Series line, which is widely considered the gold standard for 6-inch scale action figures in the collector market. Zelda fans have good reason to be optimistic about build quality.

The Ocarina of Time remake wildcard

There is one other possibility worth flagging. Nintendo has a remake of Ocarina of Time in development, and early teaser footage suggested the character designs may be getting a visual overhaul. If that remake adopts the modern Hylian Shield aesthetic, Hasbro's figures could theoretically be tied to that release instead.

That said, it is a stretch. The remake has barely shown anything publicly, and it would be unusual for a toy line to debut alongside a game that has not yet shown its final character designs. Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom Link remains the far more likely candidate.

Why this matters for Zelda collectors

The Zelda franchise has always had a complicated relationship with high-quality action figures. Good Smile Company has produced excellent Nendoroids, and Bandai made the Proplica Master Sword replica, but a proper 6-inch articulated action figure line has never really existed at scale. Hasbro stepping in with the Black Series pedigree fills a gap that collectors have been waiting on for years.

What most players miss is that the timing here aligns with a bigger Nintendo moment. The Switch 2 is live, a Zelda remake is coming, and the franchise is as culturally prominent as it has been in years. Launching a collector-focused figure line right now is not just smart, it is well-timed.

The full reveal is expected imminently given the "tomorrow" language in Hasbro's post. Once the actual figures are announced, you will want to check out the Legend of Zelda guide collection to brush up on the lore behind whichever version of Link ends up on shelves.
