Indie Game Bundle for Laid-Off Developers Raises $100K Fast

A 127-game indie bundle on itch.io has raised over $100,000 in just three days, with the proceeds going directly to the Game Industry Hardship Fund, a financial relief program for North American developers caught up in the gaming industry's ongoing wave of layoffs.

The bundle launched on itch.io at a minimum buy-in of $10, but the real headline is what you're getting for that price. The 127 games included carry a combined retail value of $1,023 when purchased individually, which means anyone grabbing the bundle is walking away with over a thousand dollars' worth of games for the cost of a fast food meal.

How the numbers actually look right now

As of the latest count, 7,194 people have contributed to the bundle. The average contribution sits at $13.96, meaning most buyers are pitching in a little above the minimum, which is a good sign. The top single contribution? A flat $2,000 from one very generous person who clearly decided to go all-in for a good cause.

That math puts the total well past $100,000 raised in under 72 hours, and there are still more than 10 days left on the clock.

important
The bundle is only available for a limited time. With roughly 10 days remaining, you'll want to move sooner rather than later if you're planning to grab it.

The fund behind the bundle

The Game Industry Hardship Fund was set up by the CWA video game union to provide direct financial support to developers in North America who have lost their jobs amid years of mass layoffs across the industry. The fund targets workers who have been left without income while navigating a job market that has become increasingly difficult for game developers at every level.

The bundle is a direct fundraising vehicle for that fund. Every dollar from purchases flows into relief for affected developers, not into platform fees or marketing budgets.

What's actually in the bundle

With 127 games packed in, there's real variety here. Standouts include Skatebird, a skateboarding game with genuine charm that holds up for a few solid evenings, and A Short Hike, an exploration game with a lot of heart that has built a loyal following since its release.

The key here is that these aren't filler titles. Developers voluntarily contributed their games to the bundle, which says something about the level of solidarity across the indie space right now. Many of the studios and solo developers who donated their work are the same kinds of teams that have been hit hardest by the layoff wave.

Why this kind of community response matters

The gaming industry has shed thousands of jobs over the past few years, with large publishers and mid-sized studios alike announcing cuts that have left experienced developers scrambling. Hardship funds and community-driven efforts like this bundle represent one of the few concrete responses that actually puts money in affected workers' pockets quickly.

The $100,000 milestone in three days is a strong signal that players are paying attention and willing to act on it. If the pace holds even partially through the remaining window, the final total could land significantly higher.

For players looking to stretch their money across a huge library of indie games while supporting developers directly, this is about as straightforward a value proposition as it gets.
