Starting this week, paid NSO members ordering from the Nintendo Store in Europe qualify for free standard delivery on purchases above a minimum threshold, making that impulse buy on official merchandise a little easier to justify.
What the new delivery tiers actually look like
The breakdown is straightforward. NSO subscribers get free standard delivery (3-4 days from dispatch) on any order over approximately $1.30 USD in real-money value. Free express delivery (1-2 days from dispatch) kicks in on orders over roughly $255 USD. For anything that falls below the standard threshold, a delivery charge of around $6.35 USD applies. Express delivery on orders under the express-free threshold runs about $10.15 USD.
For non-subscribers, standard delivery costs around $6.35 USD on everything up to roughly $255 USD in value, and express delivery is that same $10.15 USD charge regardless of what you spend.
Pre-orders are also covered. Physical products priced above approximately $54 USD, which covers essentially all Switch 2 games at full retail, ship free regardless of subscription status.
The Platinum Points catch
Here's the thing to watch out for. The free delivery threshold only applies to purchases made with real money, not Platinum Points. If you're redeeming points for a low-cost item or freebie, the standard delivery charge still applies. The key here is understanding that Nintendo has structured this perk around actual spending, not rewards redemptions.
That said, most physical merchandise on the Nintendo Store costs well above the minimum threshold anyway, so for the majority of purchases this perk will simply kick in automatically.
What NSO already offers beyond delivery
Free shipping is a small addition to what is already a fairly loaded subscription. NSO members currently get access to a large library of retro titles spanning NES, SNES, Game Boy, GBA, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, and more, with the exact catalog depending on whether you're on the base tier or the Expansion Pack. Online multiplayer, cloud saves, and Nintendo Music are also part of the package.
This week also saw four new titles added to the Game Boy and GBA libraries, including three Game Boy games and one GBA title, which keeps the retro catalog ticking along steadily.
