Stardew Valley MTG Secret Lair Cards and Release Date

Two of the most beloved names in tabletop and cozy gaming just collided. Stardew Valley has crossed over into Magic: The Gathering as a full Secret Lair superdrop, and it went live today, July 27, at 9 am PT.

The crossover was first revealed during the MagicCon Amsterdam Secret Lair showcase, and the hype has been building ever since. Three separate drops, 21 cards total, and one brand-new card that has never existed in MTG before. Here's the lowdown on everything included.

What's actually in the three bundles

The superdrop is split into three named bundles, each sold separately in foil and nonfoil treatments.

A Flicker in the Deep is the first drop, containing five cards plus a Treasure token and an Ooze token. The headliners here are Royal Serpent (a reskin of Atsushi, the Blazing Sky), Big Slime (Mitotic Slime), Galaxy Sword (Sword of Forage and Frontier), Arcane Signet, and Treasure Vault. This one leans into the game's dungeon and monster side, and the token art skews noticeably cuter than the main card art.

Life in Pelican Town is the land-focused drop, and it's the most thematically tight of the three. Four of the five cards are renamed land reprints: Community Center (Fountainport), Pelican Town (Homeward Path), Tower of Rasmodius (Command Tower), and Valley Farmstead (Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth). The fifth card is Crop Rotation, which fits the farming theme perfectly without needing a rename.

Welcome to Stardew Valley is the one most fans will want. Eight cards total, using the pixel art style the game is known for, and it contains the only mechanically unique new card in the entire superdrop: Stardew Valley, a land card. Tap it for one colorless mana, or pay two and tap it to tap and untap a creature you control while creating a food token. The third ability costs three mana plus a tap, lets you draw a card, and hands a tapped permanent you control to another player of your choice. Both activated abilities are sorcery speed only. The rest of the bundle includes Sol Ring, Swords to Plowshares, Rites of Flourishing, Mermaid's Pendant (Wedding Ring), Pierre's Truce (Dawn's Truce), and The Welcoming Committee (Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis).

Cards reprinted under a Stardew Valley name retain all original rules and abilities. Only the name and artwork change.

Bundle pricing and what you get for buying everything at once

Here's how the pricing breaks down across all options:

The Traveling Cart and Prismatic Shard bundles offer no discount over buying individually. The Grandpa Would Be Proud bundle does come with a small saving, and it's the only guaranteed way to get the Lucky Purple Memento (a reskin of Puca's Mischief) promo card. Select other bundles may also include it, but the Grandpa bundle is the only confirmed option.

How the Secret Lair purchase window actually works

The key here is timing. A waiting room opened at 8 am PT, but showing up at exactly 8 am doesn't give you any advantage. When the purchase window opens at 9 am PT, everyone in the lobby gets randomly assigned a queue position. Someone who arrives at 8:58 am has the same shot as someone who has been waiting for an hour.

Once you're assigned a spot, you'll see an estimated entry time. Getting into the store doesn't guarantee the product is still available when you check out, so having your Wizards of the Coast account details ready and moving fast once you're in is worth doing.

Registering interest on the Secret Lair homepage before the drop sends you an email reminder before the window opens, which is the easiest way to avoid missing the start.

For fans of the game who want to go deeper into Pelican Town mechanics and seasonal strategy, the Stardew Valley guides collection has you covered while you wait for your order to arrive.
