Newzoo has released its monthly ranking of the top PC and console games for June 2025, based on revenue and monthly active users (MAU). The report covers the major gaming markets in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. June was marked by a mix of high-profile releases, the return of established franchises, and a notable presence of new independent projects.

The overall revenue ranking for all platforms in June saw several new titles enter the top 20. Dune: Awakening made a strong debut in fifth place, while the independent title Rematch entered the chart at ninth. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the sequel to Hideo Kojima's 2019 title, landed in fifteenth. SCUM, which originally launched in Early Access in 2018 and reached version 1.0 in June 2025, reached seventeenth place. Deltarune, a spin-off building on the Undertale universe, held the twentieth position.

Valorant experienced a resurgence in revenue following a major update commemorating the game’s fifth anniversary. This update helped the title climb to seventh place, marking one of its highest positions in recent months. Meanwhile, Dead by Daylight recorded its most significant revenue growth since April 2020, driven by a crossover event with the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise.

Among the new entries based on revenue, only Rematch and SCUM were original intellectual properties. The other additions were either sequels, spin-offs, or connected to established franchises, indicating that while new IPs can succeed, recognizable brands continue to play a major role in driving player spending.

Platform-Specific Revenue Trends

On PlayStation, MindsEye entered the revenue ranking in eighteenth place. Despite a solid initial sales performance, the game currently holds a 2.3 out of 5 rating on the PlayStation Store, which may affect its long-term revenue potential. Lies of P experienced a notable jump in revenue, closing the month in twentieth place, likely fueled by the release of its prequel, Lies of P: Overture.

Windows PC featured a total of seven new entries in the top 20 by revenue. Dune: Awakening led the PC revenue chart, while SCUM and Rematch followed in seventh and eighth positions respectively. Deltarune placed thirteenth, and three other PC-exclusive titles (PEAK, Stellar Blade, and Date Everything!) appeared in tenth, fourteenth, and seventeenth places.

Nintendo’s rankings reflected a broader shift resulting from the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. For the first time in several months, multiple new titles appeared in the revenue chart. Mario Kart World took second place, behind only Fortnite. Deltarune was ranked ninth, Cyberpunk 2077 appeared in fourteenth, and Date Everything! followed in fifteenth.

Monthly Active Users (MAUs)

In terms of monthly active users, several new games joined the rankings across all platforms. Elden Ring: Nightreign and Splitgate 2, both released in late May, carried their momentum into June and secured positions in the top 20. Rematch also entered the MAU ranking, although part of its audience was likely drawn from its closed beta testing phase.

On PC, PEAK demonstrated strong engagement by ranking fifth in monthly active users. This placed it ahead of several well-established live-service games, including Marvel Rivals, Valorant, Overwatch, and DOTA 2. Its early success suggests strong interest among players, at least during its launch period.

Nintendo’s MAU chart also saw several new additions, reflecting increased activity around the Switch 2. Mario Kart World led the rankings in first place, indicating strong initial uptake. Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour followed in eighth place, and Deltarune maintained its presence by ranking twentieth.

Final Thoughts

June 2025 presented a diverse landscape in the gaming industry, with both new and returning titles achieving commercial and user engagement success. While major franchises and sequels continued to perform well, independent and original IPs such as Rematch and SCUM also demonstrated their potential to compete in a crowded market.

The data from Newzoo underscores the importance of timing, platform strategy, and brand recognition in shaping the performance of games in both revenue and active user metrics. As the industry continues to evolve, including the growing influence of platforms like Nintendo Switch 2 and ongoing developments in web3 gaming, market dynamics are likely to remain fluid in the months ahead.
