Dubai Launches Gaming Committee

Dubai has officially established a new Gaming Committee to support the growth of its local games industry and strengthen the UAE's position as a global hub for media and digital entertainment. The committee will foster strategic partnerships, enhance industry services, and create opportunities for investors, developers, and content creators.

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) announced that the Gaming Committee will focus on initiatives that attract international talent to the region and provide training and business support for gaming companies. These efforts aim to boost the overall economy while positioning Dubai as a central player in the global gaming market.

Progress Under Dubai Program for Gaming 2033

The Gaming Committee's launch aligns with the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033 (DPG33), which outlines the UAE's long-term vision for developing a competitive gaming ecosystem. Earlier this year, the Dubai Future Foundation reported that the UAE now hosts over 350 gaming companies, with 260 specializing in game development. More than 60 of these companies were established recently, including 12% classified as large global firms. Since the program began in 2023, roughly 67% of gaming companies in the country have set up headquarters in Dubai, highlighting the emirate's growing influence in the industry.

Government Support and Industry Events

Government leaders have emphasized policy support and infrastructure as key drivers for the sector. Dubai Economic Development Corporation CEO Hadi Badri and Dubai Chambers digital operations director Abdulla AlGaoud discussed the government's ambitions for the gaming sector during the Dubai GameExpo Summit 2024, powered by PGC. The summit returns on May 20–21, 2026, providing a platform for regional and international developers, publishers, and investors to connect, collaborate, and explore business opportunities.

Dubai's Vision for a Global Gaming Hub

The Gaming Committee and related initiatives reflect Dubai's broader goal of establishing the UAE as a top global gaming hub by 2033. By attracting international talent, supporting local developers, and encouraging strategic investments, Dubai aims to create a thriving gaming ecosystem that can compete with established markets worldwide. The committee will play a central role in coordinating industry efforts, improving services, and ensuring that the region remains attractive for both creators and investors.
