The platforming sections lean into the same logic. Transporting a key through a level in blob form, navigating past grates that block the key but not One herself, these puzzle-adjacent moments break up the combat rhythm without feeling like filler.
The Spider-Verse comparison is earned, not marketing spin
Fading Echo's visual identity is the other thing people are talking about. One's world spans multiple dimensions, each with a distinct color palette. Her home is a dry, orange desert. Other dimensions are drenched in blues and aquatic plant life. When she moves between them, she "glitches" in a way that looks directly lifted from Gwen Stacy's scenes in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Onomatopoeias appear on-screen during combat. Motion comic cutscenes handle story beats. The art direction is deliberate and consistent, not a surface-level aesthetic borrowed to generate comparisons. Whether Emeteria was directly inspired by the Spider-Verse films is an open question, but the visual language is close enough that the comparison writes itself.
Storytelling is the weaker link. The game front-loads proper nouns and world-building terms without giving players much reason to emotionally invest early. The setup functions well enough to get One moving, but players expecting Avatar-level character work will need to adjust expectations.
