GAM3 Awards 2024 Announced.jpg

At the end of every year, we crown the winners who held the torch of web3 gaming throughout the year and made the biggest impact on our industry within their respective genres. This year is no different.

However, the highly anticipated GAM3 Awards 2024 is set to be held in person for the first time ever this November at the YGG Play Summit in Manila, Philippines. The collaboration with Yield Guild Games (YGG) marks a significant moment for the awards as they continue to grow and celebrate excellence within the web3 gaming ecosystem.

Following two massively successful online iterations of the ceremony, where the GAM3 Awards 2023 held on December 14th, 2022 saw a peak viewership of 36K+ CCV and an average of 12K+ viewers throughout the entire show across Twitch alone. Overall, over 50K+ viewers tuned in live across all livestreaming platforms, and the event reached over 250K+ views in the first 24 hours alone.

In 2024, the YGG Play Summit will serve as the backdrop for this prestigious event. Dubbed the "GDC of web3 gaming," the summit brings together leading figures in the space, including Yield Guild Games co-founder Gabby Dizon, Animoca Brands Executive Chairman Yat Siu, and Sky Mavis co-founder Jeffrey Zirlin, among others. The summit is known for its consumer focus, hosting tournaments, expos, and community-driven activities, all of which align with the mission of the GAM3 Awards.

This is the third year we run these awards, and we really wanted to do something special this time. The Philippines has long been one of the main hubs for web3 gaming, and some of the earliest adopters and most passionate community members are based right here. That’s why it only feels right that our first ever physical version of the GAM3 Awards takes place at the heart of Manila — the heart of web3 gaming.

Celebrating the Best in Web3 Gaming

As with every year, the GAM3 Awards 2023 saw the introduction of 3 new categories - namely Fighting, Racing / Sports, and On-Chain games - to crown more winners in genres that saw several newcomers enter the world of web3 gaming and deserve recognition. The GAM3 Awards 2024 will see revamped genres to fit the progress of web3 gaming as well as new categories for games to compete in.

Games will be evaluated on various criteria including core loop, accessibility, replayability factor, fun elements, graphics, and overall gameplay experience. Only games with a live, playable version that meet the mentioned criteria will be eligible for nomination, with the exception of the Most Anticipated Game category and People’s Choice Award.

The Jury

Familiar faces from the gaming world including thought leaders and industry veterans will serve on the jury to support a diverse and transparent voting system., This year’s jury is set to see both returning 2023 jurors in addition to new representatives from web3 gaming VCs, chains and ecosystems, infrastructure partners and content creators - in addition to traditional gaming leaders as well as tech giants such as Amazon and Google.

The jury's decision will have a 90% weightage, while community votes will contribute 10% to the final outcome. However, categories like People’s Choice Award and Best Content Creator will see a 100% dependence on community voting, while Games’ Choice Award sees game studios voting for their favorite game of the year.

See You in Manila

As the event approaches, anticipation is high for what promises to be one of the biggest nights in web3 gaming. The awards ceremony, scheduled for November 22, 2024, in Bonifacio Global City, Manila, is expected to draw widespread attention from the global gaming community.

In the Philippines, we’re focused on the people who are playing these games, and that’s what YGG has always been known for. All the other web3 gaming events around the world are B2B events; the YGG Play Summit is the only one that’s really focused on the consumer experience. For us, hosting the 2024 GAM3 Awards here in Manila is something very exciting because it means the real players of these games will be there to vote and cheer for their favorite titles, while getting to meet the teams behind them, and the content creators that play a big part in their success.

Gabby Dizon - YGG co-founder

With the GAM3 Awards entering their third year, this event continues to spotlight the best and brightest in web3 gaming. As the community gathers in Manila, the world will be watching to see who will take home the honors at the intersection of innovation, gaming, and blockchain technology.

Expect more details as games.gg and YGG prepare to create a groundbreaking in-person event that celebrates the achievements of web3 gaming in 2024.
