How to Reach Arrakeen in Dune Awakening

Arrakeen serves as Dune Awakening's main combat-free hub zone, reachable by Ornithopter taxi for 2,500 Solaris or free via your own aircraft from Hagga Basin.

How to Fly to Arrakeen in Dune Awakening

Arrakeen has a reputation that precedes it. As the effective Imperium capital of Arrakis, it carries serious lore weight in Dune: Awakening, but inside the game it functions as something quite different: a fully combat-free hub zone packed with faction representatives, traders, and advanced trainers. Getting there, though, trips up a surprising number of players.

The short version is that Arrakeen is only accessible by Ornithopter. You can't walk there, and there's no ground route that connects it to the open desert. Two methods exist, and the one you use depends entirely on where you are in your progression.

The taxi route: fast but not free

The most accessible path to Arrakeen is the Ornithopter Taxi service, available at any tradepost across the map, including the Griffin's Reach Tradepost. Inside, look for the NPC standing next to the hologram of an Ornithopter in the corner of the building. They offer transport to several hub zones and key areas, with Arrakeen among the destinations.

The cost is 2,500 Solaris per outbound trip. That sounds steep early on, but here's the thing: the return trip from Arrakeen back to Hagga Basin is completely free. You only pay to get there, not to get back.

tip
On your first visit, speak to the House Athar Majordomo on the upper level and Dr. Shaffat in the southern section. Both hand out quests completable entirely within Arrakeen without leaving, and the Solaris rewards comfortably cover the cost of the taxi fare.

Flying yourself: the zero-cost option

Once you've progressed far enough to unlock your own Ornithopter through the vehicle progression path, the taxi fee becomes irrelevant. Fly your Ornithopter to the edge of the Hagga Basin map zone and the game presents an option to fly onward to Arrakeen at no cost. No Solaris required, no NPC interaction needed.

This is what most players miss when they're grinding mid-game: the moment your personal Ornithopter is available, every trip to Arrakeen becomes free. If you haven't unlocked yours yet, our guide on how to get the Ornithopter in Dune: Awakening walks through the full crafting process.

What's actually waiting for you there

Arrakeen itself isn't large. The entire zone is effectively one substantial building, but it's dense with purpose. The eastern-most corner of the hub holds both the taxi service NPC and your personal Ornithopter docking point for the return trip.

Beyond that, the zone houses:

  • Advanced trainers for specializations unavailable elsewhere
  • Faction representatives from several of the game's major political groups
  • Traders stocking items tied to late-game progression

The hub becomes genuinely important in the mid and late game, even if early players have little reason to visit. That said, the taxi is accessible from the start, so nothing stops you from making the trip early to scout the layout before you need it under pressure.

For players still figuring out their character direction before making the journey, the Dune: Awakening ultimate build guide covers the strongest PvE and PvP loadouts worth planning around before you start spending Solaris on faction gear in Arrakeen. The full collection of Dune: Awakening guides has everything else you'll need as the game opens up.
